Dear Saint Joseph’s Family,
We here at Saint Joseph’s are working hard every day to give our children top of the line education. I look forward to continuing to serve those children and I want to congratulate everyone because we’ve made it half way!
At this time, I’m happy to say that in spite of weather conditions most of our Catholic Schools Week activities were successful and we will continue to celebrate and showcase our great school for the rest of the year. Thank you to all who participated in making the celebration an enjoyable achievement.
Just a reminder that Friday, February 12th Saint Joseph School will be closed due to Bishop Checchio’s Holiday and Monday, February 15th Saint Joseph School will be closed to celebrate President’s Day. While President’s Day began in remembrance of George Washington and later Abraham Lincoln, it is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents, past and present.
This month, on February 17, we begin our Lenten journey. It seems we just put away Christmas and discover that it’s time to start preparing for Lent. Many children will want to “give up” an item such as candy. However, we also want to encourage them to do something positive as well. For example they can put the money they would have spent on that candy in a jar and later donate it to the needy. Please remember that the most important factor in a child’s Faith formation is the family so it’s important to do things in your home together for the Lenten journey.I’m certain that there are websites available to locate family Lenten activities.
I’m sure that we are all looking forward to spring especially after experiencing this recent snowstorm. Wednesday, February 3rd at 4:49 pm marked the exact halfway point of winter. The days are getting longer and everyone’s mood is taking an upward swing.
In closing, I want to encourage you to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about any procedures we may have in place for the safety and welfare of the children and staff. I always look forward to a strong parent presence at Saint Joseph School.
Sincerely,
Ms. Joanne McKnight, M.Ed.
